Kannuary

Well I can't believe I'm about to admit to this in writing but here goes. This is the year that I turned 30! I've been in denial about it for several years and now that it has come and gone I really don't know what I was worried about. My 25th birthday was MUCH worse than this one. Anyway I'd been warning Jeremy for months that he had to do something for my 30th birthday. Typically my birthday gifts from him are the ever so sentimental "honey, I know you've been wanting this so why don't you go buy it for yourself" speeches. And to top it off this usually comes around 3 or 4 on the afternoon of my birthday. Needless to say he's not a big celebrator when it comes to birthdays. But I was not about to buy myself my 30th birthday gift!!

So, I got Kannuary. Some background on the name. Jeremy refers to me as Kann, K for Kristin and Ann is my middle name. So this is how I appear in his phone, email, notes etc. Then of course, my birthday is in January. I though it was a pretty clever name myself. I'm not a creative person so it doesn't take much! so this is the letter I was presented with on January 1st.

So, each day in January I got a gift in honor of my thirtieth birthday. I got some services for around the house, some new furniture for our bedroom(we never picked out furniture because we never found anything we both liked so needless to say I've been anxious to do something with the master bedroom), I also got somethings that I can cash in on in the future such as weekends away and date nights. I won't bore you with the entire list, partly because that would require me getting up and finding the calendar page I wrote all of this down on as the month went along (I am pregnant after all) and partly because I don't want to bore you to death as I list of 31 gifts, some of which wouldn't make sense to anyone but us. :)

So, needless to say, he came through for my thirtieth birthday!! I was so shocked and very impressed at his creativity in all of this. I don't ever expect that I will have another birthday like this from him so I documented all of it and will have to go back every so often to remind myself what a great month it was!

Thanks, Honey, you made my month with this!

Goodness

Well folks this is just how it's going to be from now on!! With number two on the way I don't see myself ever finding the time, or the energy for that matter, to make regular posts again. I'm beginning to be somewhat productive again now that the first trimester is, very thankfully, over.

We call this little one Chestnut. We called Sydney Peanut until we had a name picked so Jeremy thought Chestnut would be an appropriate nickname for number 2. Sydney loves pointing at my belly and talking about "baby chesnut". I can't believe how quickly I began to show this time around. I know everyone said it would be much sooner but I was not expecting 6 weeks!! I don't think I started wearing maternity clothes full time till 20 weeks with Sydney.

Sydney is getting her "big girl" room now that 2 is on the way. Unfortunately, as is fairly typical of me, I didn't really think through the project I assigned myself and got into so much more than I ever planned for. I got a sewing machine for Christmas so I thought it would be fun to put it to good use. Well, it is absolutely getting LOTS of use. She may be 5 before I finish the crazy project. The curtains and bedding are complete so she will at least be able to move in even if my grand ideas haven't taken place yet. Hopefully I will have some pictures to post in the next year or so. :) She is very excited about the new room and her "big bed". Right now I use the room as a bribe for her to become completely potty trained and it's starting to pay off.

Well that's it for this short post. I have some work to finish.
