This Weekend

So I skipped out of our annual Sunday School Class camping trip this weekend. Jeremy had class and guard and I decided I was not brave enough to take a 4 month old camping by myself. Plus, I haven't camped in a tent since college and I only did it then because it was for a grade. We had a pop up camper when I was growing up. Some friends of ours are currently upgrading to a new pop up camper and I have decided if we (and by we I really mean my husband), decide that camping is going to be a regular family activity we may have to invest in one as well. A/C is essential for decent sleep and now that I have a child sleep is essential.

Instead of camping I went to the mall with my sister, sisters idea not mine. I enjoy spending time with her though and I hadn't been to the mall in ages so I thought it would be fun. Yes, I probably would have been better off going camping (even with a severely teething 4 month old). I was very quickly reminded why it has been so long since I've been to the mall. It may as well have been the weekend before Christmas there were people everywhere and hardly any room to maneuver a stroller (partly due to the very narrow isles)!!!! Aren't we supposed to be in a recession?? One would think given the current economic state the mall would not be so crowded.

Anyway, I have decided whoever started building town centers is an absolute genius. At least when you leave a store there is room to move freely and breathe. Yes, it may be 100 degrees outside but I would rather that I think than the sardine packed mall corridors. I have never thought of myself as claustrophobic but I am rethinking that. I guess now that I am no longer working I will have to go to the mall during the week and pursue other social engagements with sister. I have done just fine without the mall for the last year though, so maybe I will just steer clear all together. I will say the experience would not have been nearly as stressful had I not had Sydney with me but she is now and forever part of my life and I would not change that for the world.

Funny! Yep, I NEVER go to the mall on the weekends now. Only during the week, around 10am when no one is there. We missed you guys camping, but I don't blame you for not coming...it's a FAMILY camping and what's your family without your husband!

I am SO glad that you posted. I totally lost your blog address and keep forgetting to email and ask you for it!
Sydney is SO beautiful! I can't believe how quickly she is growing.
I would LOVE to take her pictures anytime! Just call me!

I never realized that you weren't much of a camper, especially since several of our family vacations as children included camping...haha! I do remember playing in your parents' old pop up camper in your backyard though, and that was all sorts of fun. How did we not realize how hot it was in Texas in the summer when we were little? Anywho, I digress. Glad you got to spend time with your sister, even if it was in a crazy mall. Love you!

I tried to convince you that The Parks is WAY to crowded! But no….you are too good to come to my mall ;-) I am going to hold your stamps hostage until you blog something nice about me! Ha Ha! :-D

Ok, so Austin has malls that are just as crowded, but my Jeremy and I have an extra bedroom AND a quiet neighborhood that's stroller-friendly (judging by the number of strollers I see around here!) Come to Austin anytime and stay with me for a weekend, and we'll find some easygoing places to take the beautiful Sydney:) Karrie, Katie, whoever else, that goes for you too!!!
